3.1 Exposure Standards

The following exposure standard is recommended : TLV/TWA : 1ppm (1.5 mg/m3) - Worksafe . IDLH value = 75 ppm

3.2 Engineering Controls

Maintain concentration below recommended exposure limit. Self-contained breathing apparatus may be needed for prolonged exposure.

3.3 Personal Protection

Avoid eye and skin contact. If engineering controls and work preactices are not effective in controlling exposure to this material, then the following protective equipment must be worn when handling the concentrate : overalls, chemical goggles or faceshield, rubber boots, PVC, neoprene or nitrile gloves and splash apron. Use with adequate ventilation. If there is a risk of inhalation from controlled use, wear a vapour/mist respirator as specified in AS1715 and AS1716. 4.3 Spills and Disposal

Spills

Clean-up personnel should wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus in confined areas. Ensure the contaminated area is well ventilated. Shut off all possible sources of ignition. Clear area of all unprotected personnel.

Small spills - soak up solution with an inert absorbent such as earth, vermiculite or sand. Scoop into sealable containers for disposal. Flush spill area with water. Large spills - Contain solution with an inert absorbent such as earth, vermiculite or sand. Ensure that clean-up is conducted by trained personnel.

Disposal

Hot containers of this product may rupture violently. Hot product may decompose violently on contact with metals or their salts, dust or other contaminants. Contact with wood, paper, glycerine, hydrazine, alcohol, carbon, oil or resins may produce spontaneous combustion. This product will attack some plastics, rubber and coatings. When stored in clean, non-metal containers below 25 deg C and away from sunlight, this product loses oxygen at the rate of 1% available oxygen per year. Hazardous polymerisation will not occur. This product in its concentrated form should NEVER be stored in sealed vessels. It should always be stored upright in its original or other approved container. All equipment should be maintained in a thoroughly clean condition. NEVER return unused product to its original container. Heating and/or mixing with organic materials may cause a violent reaction. This product will decompose readily liberating oxygen if mixed with tap water, dirt or heavy metals.

Extinguishing Media
